After gaining provincial nomination, a PNP candidate must seek permanent residence in Canada with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). According to IRCC, three important criteria are used while reviewing a permanent residence application. The candidate must be able to do the following:
- Have the potential to develop themselves commercially in Canada.
- Be listed in a nomination certificate issued by the government of a province
- Aim to reside in the province in which they were nominated.
Because applications for provincial nomination and permanent residency might occasionally overlap, being nominated by a province is considered sufficient in the majority of cases to demonstrate economic potential.
