IRCC has finally updated the eligible Occupation List for the Express Entry Certificate of Qualification. Check out the latest news and updated list.

The IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) updated the list of trade occupations eligible for Express Entry certificates of qualification on September 8, 2023. There are now a total of 101 occupations on the list.

This means that more skilled tradespeople are now eligible to apply for Express Entry. If you are a skilled tradesperson and your occupation is on the list, now is the time to check your eligibility for Express Entry and start your journey to becoming a Canadian permanent resident.

Certificate of Qualification

A certificate of qualification is a piece of paper that says you’re good at your job. To get one, you have to take a test and prove you know what you’re doing. The requirements vary depending on where you live, so check with your local government to find out what you need to do. IRCC has added 11 more occupations in the latest update.

Here are the 11 new occupations that were added to the list:

1. Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
2. Boilermaker
3. Carpenter
4. Electrician
5. Elevator Installer and Repairer
6. Glazier
7. Industrial Electrician
8. Ironworker
9. Millwright
10. Plumber
11. Sheet Metal Worker

The best part is that you don’t need any prior work experience for these jobs. All you need is a certificate of qualification for one of these 101 occupations. This is great news for people who are looking to change careers or who are just starting out in the workforce. It also means that you can get started on your new career quickly and easily.

Here are some of the 101 occupations that you can get into without any prior work experience:

• Administrative Assistant
• Customer Service Representative
• Data Entry Clerk
• Food Service Worker
• Hotel Clerk
• Laborer
• Medical Assistant
• Personal Care Aide
• Retail Salesperson
• Security Guard
• Teacher Assistant
• Truck Driver

These are just a few examples, and there are many other occupations that you can qualify for without any prior work experience. So if you’re looking for a new career, or if you’re just starting out in the workforce, don’t worry about not having any experience. There are plenty of jobs out there that you can get into with just a certificate of qualification.

If you have a certificate of qualification, you could get up to 50 extra points on your Express Entry CRS score. That’s a big boost!

You don’t need a job offer from a Canadian employer to get these extra points. If you’re in Canada with a valid Express Entry profile or thinking about making one, we highly recommend enrolling in one of these skilled trades programs.

Once you’ve got the hang of one of these trades, you can take an exam to get a qualification certificate from one of the Canadian provinces. There’s also a good chance we’ll see an Express Entry draw for Transport and/or Trade occupations soon.
