Manitoba, one of the prairie provinces, is spread over an extensive land. It has vast plains for agriculture which remains its topmost agricultural activity. It also has numerous mineral deposits and oil, natural gas can be found in large numbers to the southwest of manitoba.
As Canada is facing a labor shortage, employment in Manitoba is also witnessing a fall. Manitoba is looking to employ more people and grant permanent residency under the EOI draw system.
MANITOBA PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM
Through the Manitoba provincial nominee system, a candidate pursuing permanent residency in Canada can apply for the same through the three streams under the MPNP program. These three streams are –
1. Skilled Worker Overseas
The skilled worker overseas stream is for the internationally trained and experienced workers who have at least one year of formal work experience in jobs and occupations as per the National occupational classification.
2. Manitoba Skilled worker
The skilled worker in Manitoba is for those who already have a work permit and have worked in Manitoba are working and living in Manitoba at the time of application submission.
3. International education stream
The international education stream is for those who graduated from an institute in Manitoba. Since they have already lived in Manitoba and have experience there, they can apply through this stream to obtain permanent residency in canada,
4. Business Investor
The business investor stream is for qualified business investors and entrepreneurs who are keen on investing in or acquiring a business in Manitoba.
WHAT IS EXPRESSION OF INTEREST?
- When one is applying through skilled worker Manitoba or Overseas, business investor stream, they have to submit an expression of interest (EOI) under the guidelines of Manitoba Government.
- The EOI letter should include details that express why the candidate chose that state, their intentions, future plans etc.
- The EOI letter should convince the officials that you wish to immigrate to Canada but intend on settling and working in Manitoba.
- After receiving the EOI, the officials scrutinize the documents and send an Invitation of Advice to Apply (LAA) to selected candidates under the EOI draw.
Once candidates receive an LAA, they can apply for permanent residency in Canada to the Federal Government.
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST DRAW (EOI DRAW)
On June 1st, 2023, the Manitoba provincial nominee program released its first draw under the Expression of Interest system.
The EOI draws invited candidatas from all three MPNP streams, that is, skilled workers in Manitoba, international education stream, Skilled worker overseas. MANITOBA EOI DRAW 1ST JUNE 2023
1. Skilled worker in Manitoba
Occupation specific selection
- The first draw was for those who are already employed in Manitoba and are working there at the time of application submission and draw declaration.
- Occupations with high demand as per the national occupation classification were given priority.
- The following occupations were invited to apply
- Administrative occupations
- Professionals of finance and business
- Professional occupations in natural and applied sciences
- Paralegal professionals
- Care providers
- Front line public protected services
NUMBER OF LAAs ISSUED – 262
2. International education Stream
- Profiles that met the international education stream eligibility requirements like
- A credible degree from a reputed recognised Manitoba institute
- Suitable work experience as per the profession they will pursue
- Occupation they wish to pursue is recognised under NOC’ Were invited.

3. Skilled worker Overseas
- Profiles that met the skilled worker overseas eligibility requirements were invited.

Of the 589 LAAs of EOI draw issued, 214 were issued to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number as well as Job Seeker Validation code.
MPNP EOI draw system utilizes a system called Manitoba PNP points calculator to evaluate candidates based on the following –
- Work experience
- Language skills
- Occupation
- Education
Candidates with the highest score are issued a Letter of advice to apply under the EOI draw system.
