IRCC Invited 500 Healthcare Workers Under Express Entry Draw

IRCC Invited 500 Healthcare Workers Under Express Entry Draw

The inaugural Healthcare Targeted Express Entry Draw, which sent out 500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for 35 healthcare vocations, was announced by Immigration Minister Sean Fraser yesterday. Additionally, he stated that on July 5, 2023, 1,500 additional invitations to apply (ITAs) will be extended to those 35 healthcare professions.

Sean Fraser, the minister of immigration, indicated earlier in the day that a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 476 was required for the draw. This was 10 points lower than the level for the all-program draw the day before.  This increased the total number of ITAs granted through Express Entry to 60,249 in 2023.

Highlights of the News!

Number of invitations issued: 500 ITAs
Date of round: June 28, 2023
CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 476
Targeted specific occupation: Healthcare workers

Categories-based selection introduced by IRCC

The IRCC revealed on May 31 that they will start hosting Express Entry lotteries this summer for applicants in six new categories.

  • Healthcare
  • STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers
  • Trades such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and agri-food

This choice was made to make Express Entry, which processes applications for the federal immigration stream, which includes the federal skilled worker programme, federal skilled trades programme, and Canadian experience class, as well as a portion of the provincial nominee programme, more responsive to the demands of the Canadian labour market.

Healthcare Jobs Targeted in Express Entry Draw

The movie behind this decision is to make express entry, which handles applications for the federal immigration stream, including the federal skilled worker program, federal skilled trades program and Canadian experience class, as well as parts of the provisional nominee program, more approachable to Canadian labour market needs.

The goal of IRCC in inviting the specific occupation

Additionally, candidates who wanted to promote French-speaking communities across Canada were the focus of this proclamation. The aforementioned employment will be taken into account this year, as the IRCC committed to target. In this most recent Express Entry draw, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada issued ITAs (invitations to apply) to those Express Entry candidates who possess the necessary work or language experience in the chosen occupations.

  • Half of the overall occupations in category-based selection have healthcare occupation streams.
  • A significant share of jobs are in the STEM sectors (science, technology, engineering, and math).
  • To be qualified for an ITA, immigration candidates must also be in the Express Entry pool and have work experience in one of the listed occupations.
  • This is why it is important for those who are interested in immigration to Canada to strive to obtain the highest CRS score possible, as it will increase their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Last Express Entry Draw: 27-June 2023

IRCC sent out 4,300 ITAs in all program draws a day before yesterday. The CRS score was 486, which is now dropping to 10 with yesterday’s update. Even on the 27th, IRCC targeted the category-specific occupation, including all 7 occupation streams.

After the one on June 8, 2023, this was the second Express Entry draw for the month. That draw invited 4,800 candidates in an all-program draw and also required that candidates had a minimum CRS cut-off score of 486 as well.
