The International Experience Canada (IEC) has now opened up for its 2023 pool. The IEC 2023 round of invitations for the month of June 2023 has issued a total of 1,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for work permits. With the aim of welcoming more immigrants than ever, the IEC is accepting new applications from eligible candidates. This will allow eligible candidates to have the opportunity to work and travel freely in Canada under a work permit.
Around 1,369 invitations were sent out to applicants hailing from eligible countries under the provisions of the Working Holiday Visa Category, providing them with open work permits.
Around 85,000 Invitations to Apply were sent out to candidates under the Working Holiday Visa Category in 2023.
152 Invitations to Apply were sent out to Young Professionals, and more than 17 candidates were invited to the International Co-Op (Internship) Category.
According to the latest IRCC processing time update, the ongoing IEC season will take 9 weeks of processing time.

What is the International Experience Canada (IEC)?
The International Experience Canada (IEC) is a government program designed to help young people from participating countries acquire significant work experience, improve their language skills in both English and French and also be able to temporarily work in Canada while funding the trip of a lifetime. Eligible candidates may be authorized to work for a Canadian work permit without having to require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Thus the IEC allows you to stay in Canada on a temporary basis through the approval of work permits for a maximum period of a year.

Can I apply for the International Experience Canada?
If you wish to apply for the International Experience Canada (IEC), you must ensure to meet the following eligibility requirements:
- The applicant must be within the expected age range for their country’s program (maximum 35 years of age).
- The applicant’s country of origin must have an agreement with Canada, which makes them eligible for a work permit.
How does the IEC work?
All interested candidates must fill out the online application form and submit all the necessary documents. After the successful payment of the application fee and the submission of the form and supporting documents, the applicants must give their biometrics and wait for a response.
The entire process could be summed up in the following three steps:
- Create a profile.
- Get invited to apply.
- Apply for a work permit.
