Launched in the year of 2015, the Express Entry System was introduced to organize and manage the immigration applications for its different programs, like the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. Several Express Entry profiles are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) which awards points to eligible candidates out of a total of 1200 points.
According to the latest update regarding Express Entry, The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued more invitations to apply (ITAs) to eligible candidates under the provisions of the latest Express Entry Draw of 2023.
Dated 15th of August, 2023, the immigration department sent out a total of 4,300 invitations to apply to prospective candidates under all-program Express Entry Draw. Candidates with the minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) of 496 will be considered for this program.
What is the Express Entry System?
The Express Entry System, as previously mentioned, is an online application management system, employed to handle applications for FSWP, FSTP, and CEC immigration programs under Express Entry. These three programs combined, represent Canada’s most popular immigration pathway for skilled workers. Potential candidates are assessed on the basis of factors like work experience, language proficiency, educational qualifications, age, and professional fields.
Each candidate is awarded a Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS), through which their respective profiles are ranked and scored. Candidates with the highest scores stand a chance to receive an invitation to apply (ITA).
As per the latest IRCC updates, a new selection criteria has been introduced, starting from 31st May, focusing on specific professional and demographic attributes of potential candidates based on their CRS scores. This has given rise to the construction of 6 new categories for candidates applying in Express Entry, as mentioned below:
• Healthcare;
• STEM professions;
• Trades;
• Transport;
• Agriculture and agri-food; and
• French-language proficiency.
Each of these categories intend to bridge the gaps in the Canadian job market and also promote the use of French language outside the province of Quebec.
