Express Entry Draw: 3,800 ITAs issued For French-Speaking Candidates

In the latest category-based draw, Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 3,800 Express Entry candidates by sending them ITAs for Canadian permanent residence. Candidates with strong French language skills were invited to this draw. Candidates with French language proficiency had to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 375 in order to be considered for the Express Entry draw on July 12. This is the lowest CRS Score this year.

Candidates who received a minimum score of 7 across all language abilities were invited to the category-based draw. The new draw\’s low CRS cutoff demonstrates how having French proficiency significantly increases your chances of receiving an invitation to apply through Express Entry draw.

Category-based Selection

Sean Fraser, the Minister of Immigration for Canada, revealed the six new categories for category-based selection on May 31. These new categories, however, were expected because the Canadian Immigration Minister was given permission to invite applicants for economic immigration based on particular qualities rather than a broad CRS Score. These particular qualities include things like language proficiency, academic credentials, work history, and similar things.

The Canadian territorial and provincial governments, as well as IRCC partners and stakeholders, participated in the deliberations and discussions that led to the finalization of these categories.

The six new categories are listed below:

  • Healthcare
  • Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
  • Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and agri-food
  • Strong French-language proficiency

The IRCC will examine each of these categories before being presented to the Parliament, and they may be changed in the upcoming year of 2024.
