INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY PROGRAM (IMP)-
The International Mobility Program and the Temporary Foreign Workers Program are somewhat similar in terms of functioning. The tenets of the International Mobility Program are carefully listed below-
- It gives the temporary foreign workers having a Canada open work permit, to work in Canada, without the need of a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
- This program does not show preference for specific applicants based on differing wages.
- Employers, under this program, may hire a foreign worker by providing a transition plan.
- The processing time for this program is barely two weeks, while LMIA approved applications take more than a month to process applications.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKERS PROGRAM CANADA AND INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY PROGRAM-
- An LMIA is required for Temporary Foreign Workers Program, while it is not needed for IMP.
- Under the Temporary Foreign Workers Program, employers can hire only workers with close work permits, while IMP hires workers with an open work permit.
- Under the Temporary Foreign Workers Program Canada, the processing time is usually longer and extends up to few months.
Therefore, because of the Temporary Foreign Workers Program Canada, Canadian employers are able to hire foreign workers on a temporary basis, to fill the gaps in the Canadian labour market. In this way, this program serves as a major benefit to the Canadian government, and the employment sector.
