Northwest Territories operates various immigration streams divided into three categories:   

Northwest Territories Express Entry  

The Northwest Territory Express Entry stream targets overseas skilled workers whose profiles are in the Federal Express Entry Pool. Applicants whose profiles are accepted into the CIC (Citizenship Immigration Canada) Express Entry Pool and have received the “Job Seeker Validation Code” and “Express Entry Profile Number” only are eligible to apply for Permanent Residents visa under the Northwest Territories Express Entry program.

NTNP Canada Requirements:

Northwest Territories Employer Driven  

The Northwest Territories Employer Driven category is for NWT employers who want to recruit and nominate overseas skilled workers for job positions that cannot be filled by Canadian citizens and permanent residents.   

The Northwest Territories Employer Driven category encompasses two immigration streams which are mentioned below:  

(i) Northwest Territories Critical Impact Workers  

Critical Impact Workers stream targets overseas workers with at least six months of work experience in the same semi-skilled or unskilled job may be eligible to secure a provincial nomination from the Northwest Territories through the NTNP Canada Critical Impact worker stream.  

Northwest Territories PNP Requirements:

  • Applicants need to have at least six months of work experience. 
  • Language Proficiency test report required. (IELTS, CELPIP, TCF, and TEF) 
  • Must have a job offer from a Northwest Territories employer.  
  • Meet the academic qualification according to the job. 

(ii) Northwest Territories Skilled Workers  

Northwest Territories Skilled Workers program of the Northwest Territories Employer Driven Program aims to address the shortage of skilled workers in the Northwest Territories by bringing in qualified foreign workers. The skilled worker stream in the Northwest Territories offers provincial nomination to eligible NOC Skill Level 0, A, or B workers who are willing to settle permanently in the Northwest Territories,.

Northwest Territories PNP Requirements:

  • Must have a job offer from the Northwest Territories employer.  
  • Meet the language ability: Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 6 
  • Must have work experience according to the job requirements  
  • Applicants job offers must fall in a high skill level category occupation.  

Northwest Territories Business Driven  

Northwest Territories Business Driven stream targets entrepreneurs and business owners who want to start a new business in the province of Northwest Territories and want to settle permanently in the province.

The Northwest Territories Employer Driven category encompasses an immigration stream which is mentioned below:  

(i) Northwest Territories Entrepreneur  

Entrepreneurs intending to establish, purchase, or invest in a Northwest region business in any economic sector may be qualified for provincial nomination through the NTNP Canada Entrepreneur stream.

Northwest Territories PNP Requirements:

  • Language ability CLB 4 required. (IELTS score, CELPIP score and TCF score) 
  • Must have the level of work experience needed to fulfil the business plan  
  • A minimum of $150,000 CAD equity is required to start a business in Yellowknife, NWT.  
  • Must have a personal Net Worth of at least $250,000 CAD.  
  • Applicants who receive Provincial Nomination will be asked to provide a good faith deposit of $75,000 CAD.

Suppose the applicant has received a nomination by any Canadian province. In that case, he will get a 600 additional CRS score, increasing his chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for a Canada permanent residence visa in the next Express Entry draws.
