WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF ONTARIO IMMIGRANT NOMINEE PROGRAM (OINP)?
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program manages four immigration streams: Employer Job Offer, Human Capital, Business Immigration, and Masters & Ph.D. You should also know that each immigration stream is further subdivided into sub-categories.
Ontario Employer Job Offer

The OINP Employer Job Offer category encompasses 3 immigration streams which are mentioned below:
(i) Foreign Worker Stream

- Your job should lie in National Occupational Classification (NOC) 0, A, or B levels.

- Must have completed a degree program of at least two years in Canada

(iii) In-Demand Skills Stream
In-Demand Skills Stream attracts overseas skilled workers who possess work experience in one of Ontario’s in-demand occupations, acquired within the province of Ontario. The applicant also has a valid job offer from a local Ontario employer.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants should have at least one year of work experience in Ontario
- Work experience should be in one of the province’s in-demand occupations.
- Meet Language ability of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4.
- Applicants should also have a valid job offer from an Ontario employer.
Ontario Human Capital Stream
The OINP Human Capital stream incorporates many immigration categories that target those applicants required in the province’s workforce. This stream gives preference to those applicants who have abilities, skills, work experience, and academic qualifications which are required in the labour market of Ontario.
OINP Human Capital Stream encompasses three streams which are mentioned below:
(i) Express Entry-Human Capital Priorities Stream
The Ontario Human Capital Priorities Stream employs a merit-based system to select the most qualified overseas skilled workers. Individuals who have been in Express Entry Pool as a CEC or FSW applicant and they meet a required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and show the ability to contribute to the workforce requirements of the province.

- Applicants should have an active Canada Express Entry Profile
- Meet the minimum language requirements (IELTS test, CELPIP test, TCF test, and TEF test)
- Applicants must have a Ph.D., Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree
- Must have at least one year of full-time work experience
(ii) French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
The French-Speaking Skilled Worker program attracts applicants who are already present in the Express Entry Pool and they possess proficiency in both of the Canadian official languages English and French. They also have the ability to give their contribution to the economy and workforce of Ontario as skilled workers.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants need to have an Ontario Express Entry Profile
- Must have at least one year of work experience in a full-time permanent job
- Language Proficiency: CLB 7 (French) and CLB 6 (English)
- Applicants must have a Ph.D., Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree
(iii) Skilled Trades Stream
The Skilled Trades Stream grants Ontario Provincial Nominations to overseas skilled tradespeople who have an active Express Entry Profile and currently residing in the province of Ontario. Applicants also have work experience in a skilled trade which they gained while living in Ontario.
Ontario PNP Eligibility Requirements:
- Must have an Express Entry Profile
- Applicants need to have at least one year of full-time permanent work experience
- Must have a license or certificate (if required)

Ontario Business
The Business Immigration Program Ontario is focused on Entrepreneurs and moneyed Corporations who want to make investments to establish a business in Ontario. Entrepreneurs who have a good track record can easily immigrate to Canada or Ontario and begin new business ventures in the province. Currently, there is only one stream under the Business Immigration Program Ontario – Entrepreneur Stream.
Ontario PNP Requirements:
- You need to have business experience of at least 2 years in the past 5 years.
- Must have a Net Worth of at least $800,000 CAD.
- Personnel investment funds need to be at least $600,000 CAD.
- Applicants must have a minimum of one-third of the equity in the company.
- Actively involved in the management of the firm

Masters and Ph.D. category
Masters Graduate Stream and Ph.D. Graduate Stream are the two streams under the Masters and Ph.D. program. Both these streams are not aligned with the Canada Express Entry System, applicants have to create a profile and register an Expression of Interest (EOI).
(i) Masters Graduate Stream
The OINP Masters Graduate Stream targets students who have recently completed a master’s degree from a reputed and recognized Ontario education institution and are willing to work and live in the province of Ontario.

- Applicants should have a master’s degree from a reputed institution in Ontario.
- Language Proficiency required (IELTS test, CELPIP test, and TCF test)
- You must have lived legally in Ontario for at least one year in the last 2 years.
(ii) Ph.D. Graduate Stream
Ph.D. Graduate Stream targets students who have recently completed their Ph.D. degrees from a reputed and recognized Ontario Education institution and willing to work and live in the province of Ontario.

- You must have lived legally in Ontario for at least one year in the last 2 years.
- Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree from a reputed institution in Ontario.
