  • Should have a valid Canada work permit before they start the process 
  • Must have a valid full-time job offer from the Canadian employer 
  • Language Proficiency is required (IELTS Score) 
  • Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA) must be positive

Graduate Entrepreneur Stream  

It allows Alberta to nominate qualified International Graduates from Alberta post-secondary institutions to run businesses and apply for Canada PR in Alberta.  

The eligibility requirements for Graduate Entrepreneur Stream:  

  • Completion of at least two years of full-time education with a degree or diploma from Alberta Advanced Education, publicly funded by post-secondary institutions.  
  • Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) issued by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which is justifiable at the time of Expression of Interest (EOI) submission. 
  • Language Proficiency is required (IELTS)

Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream  

It is an economic Canada immigration program valid for foreign graduates who have a desire to immigrate to Canada, launch innovative businesses or start-ups in Alberta, and apply for permanent residency in Alberta.   

The eligibility criteria for the Foreign Entrepreneur Stream are:  

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in actively owning and managing a business equivalent to work experience as a business incubator or accelerator.  
  • Completion of a degree in post-secondary institutions outside of Canada with Educational Credential Assessment completed within the last 10 years of EOI submission.  
  • The minimum Investment for an urban centre is $100,000, and for a regional area, it is $50,000. 
  • Language Proficiency is required (IELTS)

Farmer Stream  

It is for entrepreneurs with farm management experience and financial resources to establish or purchase a farm in Alberta and acquire permanent residency status in the province.  

The following are the eligibility criteria for Farm Stream:  

  • Proven farm management skills with financial documentation of existing farms.  
  • Proof of sufficient financial resources to be able to invest a minimum of CAD 500,000 in a primary farming business  
  • Candidates must document their investment plans in the proposed business plan when submitting it to AAIP.  
  • Language Proficiency is required (IELTS Test)

The Rural Renewal Stream  

It assists in attracting and retaining newcomers to rural Alberta through several community-driven methods that help in local economic development and contribute to the community’s growth.   

The Rural Renewal Stream application works in 3 steps:  

  • The community designation process is where the community recruits to meet workers’ needs and provides an endorsement of a candidate letter. 
  • Candidates need to submit an AIIP application.   
  • Meet minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level. 

The requirements for the Rural Renewal stream application are:   

  • Community Residency- While submitting the application and during the AAIP assessment, the candidates must have the intention and ability to reside and work in the designated Alberta community.   
  • The candidate needs to have a valid endorsement of the candidate letter issued by the Economic Development Organization of the designated rural community of Alberta.  

Language Proficiency is required (IELTS Test)

The Rural Entrepreneur Stream

It is an economic immigration program for entrepreneurs who want to start a business in a rural community in Alberta that can submit their Expression of Interest (EOI).  

The eligibility criteria for The Rural Entrepreneur Stream are:  

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a business owner or 4 years experience as a senior manager in the past 10 years.  
  • Completion of minimum high school degree equivalent to Canadian standards with an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) 
  • Meet minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 4  
  • Net Worth must be at least CAD 300,000. 
  • Minimum Investment should be at least $200,000.
