NATIONAL OCCUPATION CLASSIFICATION

WHAT IS NATIONAL OCCUPATION CLASSIFICATION?

The National Occupation Classification NOC is a system designed by the Canadian government to recognise and categorize the occupations taking place within the country. 

An occupation not mentioned in the NOC list is not considered by the Canadian government. 

The NOC list is a comprehensive collection of all the professions and occupations of the country.

NOC allots a 5 digit number to every occupation to ease the process of recognition.

HOW TO CHECK YOUR NOC?

You can check your NOC by checking the National Occupation Classification database list on Canada’s official website. You can either search the keywords of your job or the job title.

If the duties and responsibilities mentioned under the job title relate to your job profile, then it is your National Occupation Classification NOC code.

When you apply for Canadian permanent residence, check your NOC code and TEER level before filling out the application.

WHAT IS THE USE OF NOC?

Aforementioned, the NOC list categorizes every occupation and assigns a code, skill level and a TEER code to the profession.

The code is 5 digit and the TEER code is determined by the first digit of it.while the skill level is determined by the second digit of the NOC code.

NOC code helps in organizing the occupation as per Canadian labor market, it includes description of duties, responsibilities of the occupation.

LABOUR MARKET IMPACT ASSESSMENT CANADA

The labor market impact assessment is a document that a Canadian employer may ask you for if you are a foreign worker.

The labor market impact assessment shows which job needs employment, and a foreign worker is eligible to work for the same. 

A positive LMIA shows that an individual is needed for the job. Positive LMIA is also called a confirmation letter.

CANADA EXPRESS ENTRY

In order to apply under the canada express entry system under canadian immigration programs, one should have skilled work experience in any one of the following National Occupation Classification TEER

RURAL AND NORTHERN IMMIGRATION PILOT 

The rural and northern immigration pilot seeks to invite candidates who have jobs as per TEER 0,1,2,3 and 4 under National Occupation Classification.

AGRI FOOD PILOT 

To be eligible to be an agri food pilot, you need to have jobs as per TEER 0,1,2,3,4 and 5 under National Occupation Classification.
