On April 26, The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada (IRCC ) issued an Invitation to Apply (ITAs) to 3,500 candidates in the eleventh Express Entry draw of 2023. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS score) was 483. The Canadian government and IRCC will typically have Express Entry draws every two weeks on a Wednesday. And just as we expected, the IRCC issues invitations to apply for candidates under Express Entry and all programs.

Express Entry draw, which means an all-programme draw where candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) can apply for Canadian Permanent residency.

It seems like Canada is on a full run to complete its goal of inviting more than 460,000 to immigrate to Canada. The April 12 draw invited half the number of applicants as the lotteries on March 15, March 23, and March 29 invited 7,000 candidates each across two weeks rather than the customary bi-weekly draws. It also increased the required CRS score from 481 to 486. The larger draw size and higher CRS score are consistent with earlier draws in 2022 and early 2023.

IRCC Draws to Create History

This March, over 21,000 ITAs were issued monthly, setting a new record for Canadian immigration. ITAs issued through Express Entry this year were the second highest in the program\’s history. Most ITAs were granted in a single month in February 2021, when 27,332 CEC candidates were invited in a single draw. 

Nonetheless, the March draw for 7,000 hopefuls was the largest-ever all-program draw. In the following two draws, an additional 21,000 candidates were invited over the course of two weeks, making a monthly total of 21,667 ITAs. A draw was conducted on March 1 exclusively for Provincial Nominee Programme (PNP) applicants. That made March a historical month in the immigration history because Canada has never invited many in just one month. The facts state how determined Canada is to complete their goal of an immigration-level plan by 2025.

CRS score

Increasing the minimum CRS score increased the number of invitations to Express Entry. Prior to 2023, approximately more than 3,000 applicants were invited to each Express Entry draw, with the CRS score constantly increasing or decreasing. But it\’s only April now, many more draws are yet to come, so it won\’t be wrong to say that people with migrating desire can consider their immigration this year even with the lowest CRS like 483-490But what is the definition of a good CRS score according to all the express and PNP draws being held in 2023? Based on the information we know so far, a good CRS Score for the year 2023 should be between 470 and 495. While this may only help some employees in low-performing occupations with low CRS scores, the targeted draws under Bill C19 may help some. CRS scores can be increased in several ways.

Online immigration requests can be submitted through Express Entry (EE). It helps applicants create their profile and be considered skilled immigrants or people who desire to immigrate and settle in Canada. The top-ranked candidates are asked to submit an application for permanent residency when the draw helps each month with minimum CRS scores.
