IRCC has finally released the Latest Express Entry draw for the month of June. It is also the 14th draw of the year 2023, where express entry candidates, who were eagerly waiting to receive an invitation to apply, can proceed with their application.

The latest Category-based Selection announced by IRCC

The category-based selection draws that IRCC released on May 31, 2023, are about the begin this summer. As mentioned earlier, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada has initiated this system for express entry selection for a total of 6 categories. Candidates applying for Canada PR through Express Entry must be aware of it.

With the new system, IRCC has aimed to invite candidates with some specific kind of skills or attributes to boost the economic goals set by the Canadian government. Here is the list of categories incorporated into the new category-based system.

According to the latest news, the IRCC will start releasing the new category-based draws this summer, but the exact dates have not been announced.

Even if you do not belong to the above list, you don’t need to worry since you will still have the chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply(ITA) for the targeted draw of your profession. For this to happen, you must be already in the Express Entry pool. If you will pass the CRS cutoff and can meet the eligibility criteria, then no one can stop you from getting permanent residency in Canada. 

As assured, IRCC will continue the present system for the selection of candidates even after the launch of the new system. The new category-based system is not going to alter the current targetted draw, and all-program draws.

An Overview of Canada Express Entry Draws 2023

May 2023

In May, there were two draws for Express Entry. First, a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) where IRCC had invited only draw for 589 candidates was held on May 10. These applicants were both in the Express Entry pool and provincial government nominees.

April 2023

The two April draws resembled one other greatly. Both draws, which invited 3,500 candidates, were for the entire program. Express Entry candidates needed a CRS score of 346 for the April 12 draw and a CRS score of 483 had been set for the April 26 draw.

March 2023

In terms of the number of draws and candidates, March was exceptional. There were four draws, and 21,677 applicants were selected overall. Three of these draws ran for 7,000 candidates each and were all-program draws. The last draw of its month was Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which invited 667 candidates.

January/February 2023

Four draws were held in February as well. Each was specialized to a different program; three were for PNP applicants. The fourth draw, however, created history in the express entry as it was a Federal Skilled Worker Program. Two all-program drawings in January attracted 5,500 applicants each.

General Understanding of Express Entry

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada designed the Express Entry system in the year 2015 to more effectively target high-skilled economic immigration aspirants to offer permanent residency in Canada.

In the Express Entry System, candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class are evaluated through the Comprehensive Ranking System. It takes into account a candidate\’s age, education, work history, language proficiency, and other transferable aspects. The likelihood of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence is highest for applicants with the highest CRS score.

New Vision of IRCC

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada has started to envision that the current selection system, where candidates are prioritized for their CRS Scores, is not helping to boost Canada’s economic growth. The authority has announced to choose candidates according to their professions.

Canada will now invite professionals that are high in demand in the labor market.
