Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream  

The province’s Nova Scotia, Labour Market Priorities Stream, permits it to prioritise a specific occupation for overseas Nova Scotia immigrants. It selects applicants in the Express Entry System who meet Nova Scotia PNP requirements.   

Eligibility Requirements:  

  • The applicant must have an LOI (Letter of Interest) issued by the NSNP.  
  • Demonstrate sufficient funds. 
  • Possess legal residency status in the country where you currently reside or live.  
  • Must have the required work experience.  
  • You must meet the eligibility criteria at the time you receive the LOI.  

Labour Market Priorities for Physicians Stream  

The labour market priorities for the physician’s stream allow Nova Scotia to select applicants from the Express Entry Pool who are skilled and qualified doctors. This stream permits physicians to apply for province nomination through Express Entry System.  

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must have an approved offer from the health authority of Nova Scotia or IWK health centre as either family physicians, specialist physicians, or general practitioners.  
  • Must have at least two years of residency and employment offer. 
  • Received a Letter of Interest (LOI) from the immigration office of Nova Scotia through Express Entry.  
  • Applicants must have sufficient funds.  
  • Possess legal residency status in another country where you currently reside or live.  

Nova Scotia Physician Stream  

Nova Scotia Physician stream allows provincial public health authorities Such as NSHA (Nova Scotia Health Authority) and the IWK (Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre) to employ family physicians, specialist physicians, and general practitioners to settle and work in the province of Nova Scotia. This program was designed to retain doctors for vacant health sector jobs.   

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Possess legal residency status in the country where you currently reside or live. 
  • You must provide proof of legal status if you are a Provisional Visitor or Worker in Canada.  
  • Applicants have to meet the eligibility requirements of IWK and NSHA. 

Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream  

The Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream is aimed at entrepreneurs or business owners, or senior business managers who are willing to immigrate and live in the province of Nova Scotia and want to invest or start a new business organisation in the province.   

Eligibility Requirements:  

  • Applicants should be above the age of 21 years.  
  • Applicants need to show their genuine desire to live in Nova Scotia.  
  • Must have a Net Worth of at least CAD 600,000.  
  • We must invest at least CAD 150,000 to start a business in Nova Scotia.  
  • Applicants should have language proficiency.  
  • A minimum of three years experience as an entrepreneur (minimum 33% ownership) or five years experience as a manager in a high-level position.  

International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream  

International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream targets those applicants who are fresh graduates from any reputed and recognized university or college in Nova Scotia and who have established or bought a business in Nova Scotia and operated it for at least one year while they were working in Nova Scotia, Canada, on the Post Graduate Work Visa.  

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants need to show their genuine desire to live in Nova Scotia.  
  • At least one year of experience handling a business in the province of Nova Scotia with complete ownership.  
  • Must have completed studies from a recognized institution in Nova Scotia.
  • Must have a valid Post Graduate Work Visa.
  • Applicants need to have CLB level 7 in English or French.  

International Graduates In-Demand Stream  

The International Graduates In-Demand stream targets recently graduated overseas students with the skills and academic qualifications to match the requirements of National Occupational Classification (NOC) job classifications.  

Eligibility Requirements:  

  • Must have a full-time job offer from the employer in Nova Scotia.  
  • Applicants’ ages should be between 21 to 55 years.  
  • Must have a diploma or degree from a reputed education institute  
  • Must have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 5 in any one of the official languages, either English or French.  
  • Applicants must have sufficient funds  

Skilled Worker Stream  

Skilled Worker Stream allows Nova Scotia local employers to hire overseas skilled workers or overseas fresh graduate students who have all the skills and academic qualifications needed in the organisation.   

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have a full-time job offer from the employer in Nova Scotia.  
  • Applicants’ ages should be between 21 to 55 years.  
  • Must have at least one year of work experience in a full-time job  
  •  Semi-skilled/low-skilled workers need 6 months of work experience with the job offer letter.  
  • Must have a diploma or degree from a reputed education institute   
  • Applicants must have sufficient funds  
  • Applicants should have at least CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) level 4. 

Occupations in Demand Stream  

The occupations in Demand Stream concentrate on the most in-demand NOC C and D occupations in Nova Scotia. Based on available labour market information, the immigration authority determines which occupations are in demand.  

Nova Scotia PNP Requirements:  

  • The applicant’s age should be between 21 to 55 years.  
  • Must have a diploma or degree from a reputed educational institute.  
  • Must have the required skill set, training, and accreditation for the job.  
  • Applicants should have at least CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) level 4. 
  • Applicants must have sufficient funds.  
  • Applicants should have at least one year of work experience.  

Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) 

The Atlantic immigration program (AIP) targets skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers looking to relocate permanently to one of the Atlantic provinces. These are the four Atlantic Provinces-

  • Prince Edward Island
  • Nova Scotia
  • New Brunswick 
  • Newfoundland & Labrador

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE NOVA SCOTIA NOMINEE PROGRAM?  

Here are some steps through which you can easily apply for the Canada Permanent Residence through Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP): –

WHAT IS THE COST OF APPLYING TO THE NOVA SCOTIA NOMINEE PROGRAM?  

Step 1
No application fees are required for the Nova Scotia immigrants and Nova Scotia Nominations.  

Step 2
The primary applicant must have $550 toward the Canadian Permanent Residency application.

Some additional Nova Scotia immigration program (NSNP) processing fees for Step 2 are:  

  • You have to pay CAD 550 for a family member over 22.  
  • CAD 550 for each family member below 22 and married/in a common-law relationship.  
  • Have to pay CAD 150 for each family member below the age of 22 and unmarried/not in a common-law relationship.  

If your application gets permitted by the Nova Scotia immigration office, then you have to pay the “Right of Permanent Residence Fee”, which includes:   

  • CAD 490 for a primary or principal applicant  
  • CAD 490 for a common-law partner/spouse  

ABOUT COMPREHENSIVE RANKING SYSTEM (CRS)   

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Calculator is the points-based system used to access and score applicants’ profiles and scrutinise applications based on ranking in the express entry pool. There are a total of 1200 points in the CRS Calculator.   

Suppose the applicant has received a nomination by any Canadian province. In that case, he will get a 600 additional CRS score, increasing his chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next Express Entry draw.

WHAT IS THE PROCESSING TIME TO GET NOVA SCOTIA PNP?  

Nova Scotia PNP program application processing time depends on the Nova Scotia immigration Program that the applicant has selected. For eligible applications, the processing time can be three months or longer.   

Your Nova Scotia PR or permanent resident visa must be applied for within six months of receiving your nominee certificate from IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).
